What is Refind, and who is Alex?
About Alex.
Hi, my name is Alex, and earlier this year I decided to take the plunge and begin my writing journey.
Born and raised in Lancashire, I have always had a passion for music, and was brought up listening to artists like Green Day, Luther Vandross, Blur, Foo Fighters, Joss Stone, Deep Purple, Paul Simon, and many more. This was the foundation that my current music taste was built upon.
My professional life began, as it does for many people, in the hospitality sector. This stage of my life took me between restaurants, bars and venues across Lancashire, ending in the heart of the Ribble Valley, Whalley. It was here where my career took a shift in a different direction.
Here, I began my roles in Customer Service for two small businesses. Working in Customer Services has it’s challenges, however it taught me that a carefully worded email can be used to make a sale, inform a curious customer, or defuse a bomb if necessary. In a strange and unexpected way, it is in these roles that my passion for writing began.
This leads me to the beginning of this year, 2024, when I began thinking seriously about my career and where it was heading. How can I combine my interest for writing with my already established passion for music? The answer, Refind.
What’s Next?
At the moment, my honest answer is anything. I am excited to see what this blog becomes – even if nobody reads it, I am intrigued to see how my writing changes, and how to blog will change over time.
I am also keen to test my skills and knowledge in other areas of writing.
